Maggie - Border collie female, about 3 years old. Sweet!
Maggie's most engaging feature is her grin which she displays whenever greeting her person, accompanied by a little humming noise. She is a medium to low energy BC in part due to an old injury to her hip; she walks on that leg but holds it up when running. It doesn't seem to cause her any pain or slow her down when she is interested in something. She has adapted to her foster mom's home and 4 other dogs as though she has always lived with them. She is extremely sweet and loving and will be happy as an indoor dog, either alone or with another dog or dogs. She is a home loving girl, preferring to be hanging around the house or in her crate where she voluntarily retires after dinner. She is ready to go, with shots, microchip and is spayed and housebroken. Call Diana at 505-263-4191, diankell@comcast.net |

Zia
They call me a senior, but I prefer to think of myself as mature! I am a friendly girl who still has some spunk - a well balanced and well mannered dog who likes to lay at your feet when you're working or watching tv. I don't complain and go with the flow - an easy dog.
I have recently been shaved but my coat should grow back to medium-long and beautiful in a few months. I am a large border collie mix, but my weight is well distributed & I haven't got a lot of excess.
I am housetrained and like other dogs. I like to play chase and will catch the ball if you bounce it. I don't have any bad habits at all. I would be a good match for someone who wants a faithful friend who doesn't require a lot of work.

Domino
I’m Domino and I am a mixed breed cattle dog about 4 –5 years old. I am a spayed female, black and white in color, and I weigh 32 pounds. My coat is short and I shed very little. I am shy, but not afraid of people, and I have learned to trust my foster parents in a just a few short days. I am playful with other dogs, and like to play chase and ambush. I eat well but still look very small, and I will get no bigger than I am now. I must say I have the cutest little feet! I do like the attention my foster parents give me, but I like to seek it out my self. I will come when called, I am house broken, and I like spaghetti! I enjoy sleeping inside, and prefer my foster Mom, but men are o.k. I sometimes hide out under the bed, when a sharp noise scares me. I was surrendered to a shelter, and my fosters believe I was beaten in the past, due to my skittish nature. I am not at all aggressive to humans, but prefer to keep my dog treats to myself. My fosters wanted to try to help me, because they were afraid I would not get adopted from the shelter due to my appearance of fear of humans. They have helped me to come out of my shell a bit, but I could really use the love and care of a human that would just like a nice companion.

I will make someone a wonderful friend as I am still willing to trust humans, I am the forgive and forget type of girl! I walk fine on a leash, but sometimes skitter to the other leg of my human walker due to the sharp noise issue. I will get over this trait in time, if you can pour some love and understanding on me! I ride well in cars and like the breeze through the window. My ears are very pointed and expressive; I can move them around independent of the other to pick up different sounds. I would be an excellent traveler in a motor home, if you want to load up and hit the road! I really am an old fashioned girl, but if you give the time to know me, you will fall in love! I promise!
Kisses! Domino |

Oreo
ADOPTION PENDING
Howdy! My Name is Oreo! I am a Border collie of about 4 months of age, and I have typical black and white markings that even extend to my paw pad colors! I am a neutered male and I weigh about 30 pounds now, but I am growing fast! I display all the characteristics of what a large strong full grown Border collie male will be when I grow all the way up! My chest is wide and deep, my legs are large and strong, my paws are very large and I have a long stout body. About the only part of me that looks like a puppy are my face and my tail! I already have an abundance of energy and stamina. I am living with 3 other Border collies, that really know how to be Border collies, so I learn new things every day.I can already hike 2-3 miles without tiring, and I know how to drink from a camelback! I really get along very nicely with my bigger cousins, and I love to ambush them in the house. Speaking of the house, my house training has gone super, and I very seldom have any accidents. You sometimes have to remind me to go out, but all you have to say is, “Oreo let’s go outside to potty like the BIG dogs!” |
My foster parents say that they see many of the traits of what they call a SUPER Border collie in me. Those traits are: curiosity, obvious intelligence, strength, stamina, the want to chase and herd things, (however the morning doves are not cooperating in my herding attempts), keenness of eye, the ability to wait then pounce, eagerness to please humans, willingness to learn new commands by voice and hand signal, and love. I really want to love on my human friends and my pack mates. I would really like a life-time home with another herding dog in it, and humans that understand I need to run, hike, camp, herd, have fun, and this will be my job as a Border collie. I cannot be kept in an apartment, or left alone for hours on end; this would make me neurotic and destructive to your home. Right now I am O.K. with children, but as I grow I will want to herd them around if they are small. A boy or girl of 10-12 years of age, that REALLY wants a very active, and in need of attention dog, and that will not neglect me, I could make a life time friend that will probably change their life and open it to the wonder of a loving animal friend. I think if I was living with the right human/collie team I could be a great working herder or even a good candidate as a trials dog. As much as I like to be outside, I want to come inside with my human to be close to them at night, and to lie at their feet and snore softly. |
 |
My foster parents believe I will provide my new owner with a wonderful, unforgettable, life-changing experience. I really need a lifetime commitment home, as I have been owner surrendered once to an animal shelter. My foster parents will require a serious questionnaire be filled out, I meet any dogs you have, and they get to inspect your home, heck they might even quiz you! But all of this is to get me the right place to spend the rest of my life, and to enrich the lives of my new owners. If you think you can jump through all the agility hoops these fosters have set up around the ring, please call to meet me!
Love and slobbery wet kisses, Oreo!
